Old Base Looting!

I will be converting the old map (pre 1.0) and loading it as a separate world accessible via portal.  If anyone wants to retrieve their stuff, they will have ~2 weeks to do so.  It's going to be a free-for-all : inside the old map there will be no rules.

Tesla coil greatly boosted : it now does variable damage depending on the amount of energy stored in it.  Try sending it larger voltage packets for more range and damage.  Try placing bare wires on a side to increase range in that direction, or insulated wires to reduce range.

Guns from Flan's WW2 guns greatly boosted.

Quantum Armor no longer feeds players via magic.  Try food sometime.  Nuclear Reactor fuel life boosted.

And some other changes.

Server is Going to be linked to This One : Industrial War in a few hours.  A portal will be available.  Notice the title of the server : Industrial War.  Better get ready.

Power Generation Balancing Values :

Today, I totaled up the relative costs of all available power generators on this server, for now.  I then factored in the difficulty to set the generator up, the danger to your base in having such a generator, the amount of maintenance needed after setup, and whether the resource the generator uses is renewable (aka infinite) or not.  I found that surface area taken up is not much of a factor, because each square you add per generator needs 6 blocks of shielding to protect it from griefers.  The energy shield to cover those squares is less expensive than the power output of the worst generator that eats area.

Here's what you need to know : the actual EU output per tick over a full Minecraft day.

1.  Solar Panel : 0.5 EU per tick with no weather, about 0.4 EU/tick factoring in rain.
2.  Wind Generator : with perfect setup at top of map, 2.88 EU/tick.  Note that turbine blades can break during a windstorm, but output increases.
3.  Water Mill : in passive mode, 0.25 EU/tick when completely surrounded by water.  If fed buckets by hand or automatically, 1 EU/tick.
4.  Geothermal Generator : both Mark I and Mark II output 16 EU/tick, and produce 16,000 EU from 1 lava bucket.
5.  Buildcraft Combustion Engine + Energy Link : each combustion engine produces 15 EU/tick.  Note that the engines can explode and destroy a significant area, and that there are bugs that can cause them to explode.  Also, they have bugs caused by the mod buildcraft.
6.  Nuclear Generator : Output varies.  It is 80% of the values shown on the reactor calculator at this calculator .

The example reactor there will produce 678 EU/tick.  Note that nuclear fuel lasts for 5 times longer duration on this server, so the example reactor will breed as much fuel as it uses at the end of 1 full cycle.  The ice blocks make it semi safe.  Note it will require 4160 stacks of ice over that cycle.  Also note that the explosion of a single failed reactor can destroy several chunks and will cut through many layers of reinforced stone.

Round II

Here's the 1.0 client, Round II.

Changes :

1.  I just stayed up all night porting the Force Field mod to Bukkit.  It's the Modular Force Field System by Thunderdark.  Forum Post.  LEARN THIS MOD.  It is going to be your primary defense against being griefed.

2.  The included texture pack has all HD textures for almost every mod.  Unfortunately, some of the textures are of a different style, so they clash a little bit.  However, I think it looks better than ever.  If you have suggestions for improving it, and the time, let me know.

3.  The client now includes Not Enough Items and Convenient Inventory.

Client Downloads :  Regular Version
                             Optifine Version (for slower computers)

Note : hit the "E" key and hit "R" over any item in the Not Enough Items menu to find out the recipe.

WW2 guns stats are here : http://pastebin.com/zNCXbB2Q

Rules clarification

ALLOWED :

1.  Attacking other players for any reason, and taking their stuff.
2.  Taking things out of the chests belong to other players if you USE THE ITEM in the next 24 hours.  i.e., don't steal stacks of cobblestone if you are just going to horde it or throw it in lava.  If a player complains that all their chests are empty, and I find out you did it, I'll assume you were griefing and ban.
3.  Using another player's resources so long as they are automatically renewed.
       a.  You can harvest another player's crops or trees so long as you replant
       b.  You can use another player's energy supply or machines so long as you don't blow them up in the process.
       c.  You can tap another player's power system or reroute their oil supply or reroute their quarry piping as long as you don't break anything.

BANNABLE :

 1.  Breaking SIGNIFICANT blocks belonging to another player.  If you break cobblestone in a wall to get in, or add a button to an iron door, that's ok.  If you smash a machine or something expensive, that's a ban.
 2.  Use of nukes, TNT, or nuclear reactors within the blast radius of another player's blocks.
 3.  Attacking another player so frequently that they effectively can't play.
 4.  Smashing a bed is a 4 hour ban.

Accidents happen.  If you cause an accident (hit someone's base with stray mining laser fire, or set off a creeper) you have a chance to repair the damage.  Refuse to repair the damage or log off, and that's a ban.

Ban durations will vary depending on how decent a player you have been to others, and how impressive your own creations are.  If you build nothing and spend all the time griefing, the ban will probably be permanent.  If you help others and build an elaborate mega-factory, the ban will probably be less than 24 hours.
