Grief Protection

As an interim measure against griefing, I'm offering the following trade :

I will trade 1 adminium block for 2 reinforced cobblestone, under the following conditions :

        You must use the adminium within 1500 blocks of Spawn.
        The final structure must have no adminium visible, inside or out.

How can you use this to protect against griefing?  You can line the walls of the structure protecting your important stuff (cover the adminium with covers so the walls are only slightly thicker than normal if you want), leaving only 1 or 2 entrances.  Put a corridor through the entrances lined with tesla coils on the other side of the adminium.  (tesla coils fire through walls)

No one will be able to enter your base who has not invested a considerable amount of time on the server.

Client Updated and Server Move

This server should be state of the art, the best that can be rented with the fastest hardware money can buy today.  I'm sure you'll let me know if it lacks in any way :)

Rules for the server

No random destruction.  It's permissible to change someone's base, but only if the changes are an improvement or an addition.

Allowed : blow up the wilderness, use TNT in the wilderness or your own structure, etc.

Banned : set TNT traps in someone's base, blow someone's base up, steal machines

Grey Area : use someone's renewable energy to recharge, borrow a machine.  Set a trap in their base that does NOT destroy anything (aka like a piston lava trap or a tesla trap).  Improve someone's base by adding artwork, etc.

Basically, no griefing, but most of the time if you do something in the grey area you will not be banned permanently.

WarDave and I have ban and kick powers.

What has gone wrong, and what has been done to fix it :

1.  There have been periodic lag-spikes, where everything done in game reverses itself.  I'm purchasing a new host today that will be much more powerful.  The new host will have an SSD, a top of the line processor, and most importantly will be on a host that has more available bandwidth.

2.  The Portal Gun mod started throwing exceptions every time a certain player logged into his base, causing the server to restart.  I'm looking at you, Shablo5.  The mod has been removed at the server level : this means that all portal gun stuff has disappeared.  Since the client still has the mod, you won't crash when opening chests that used to contain Portal mod stuff.  I know some of that stuff was expensive, and I'm sorry that I had to remove the mod.  

I'm really sorry I wasn't awake when all this happened : it took me less than 30 seconds to disable the mod in a config file.  As the server grows, it appears I need to deputize more people with authority to handle issues like this.

On the bright side, that's the ONLY mod that's been crashing the server, and for teleports we have other good solutions.  Can't afford 2 million energy a teleport?  We also have a mod that adds high speed rail.

Update 2.0

Hotfix : Client has been updated with new version of Portal Gun Mod.  Or, you can pick up the files here if you know what you are doing :

Changes :
      1.  Eloraam's Redstone Power has been Updated!  
                  a.  Pneumatic Tubes have been bugfixed.  They were already better than buildcraft, now they are even better.  Please use tubes whenever you can, it is buildcraft that is the primary reason your client crashes.
                  b.  Copper is now Copper, Tin is now Tin, Big Tree rubber is now same as Industrialcraft rubber!  Totally interchangable!  You can now get rubber from the big trees and use all that ore you couldn't put in the macerator.
                  c.  There's a new form of electricity, blutricity.  This is just an early version of that part of the mod.
      2.  I changed Optifine to Optifine classic.  Supposedly, this one is more compatible. I also made sure that qo.class , an updated forge file, overwrote the one that comes with Optifine.  I also made sure the default graphics settings were as fast as possible without shortening the view distance or turning off animations.  Weather is now OFF by default as well.


Instructions:
1. Extract the folder anywhere
2. Double click the executable (it's minecraft portable)
3. When the launcher comes up, choose "try again" and enter your username and password

You can add your username and password to the config file as well and it'll log in automatically.

Advantages : you don't need to even touch your .minecraft folder. No installation required. Also, I have included several client mods preinstalled such as Optifine and a texture pack and Minecraft Atmosphere and inventory sorting.

If you want the .minecraft folder, look in "mcp_data". It's in there.
